It is synthesized mainly in the left ventricle of the heart as a 108 amino acid prohormone pre-pro BNP (__ampersandsigngamma;-BNP). Objectives: To measure pro Brain Natriuretic Peptide (pro-BNP) levels in subjects with Type 2 Diabetes mellitus. Methods: That we have used for the present study prospective, observational, non-interventional cohort study done in patients admitted in Krishna Hospital and Medical Research Centre, Karad with the diagnosis of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. Results: We have seen the Distribution of pulse rate, blood pressure, blood sugar, serum HbA1c and serum creatinine, Distribution of serum lipids, serum pro BNP and Left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) in the study population. Conclusion: The measurement of pro BNP level in a patient with type 2 diabetes mellitus will be valuable for early prediction of heart failure and its outcome.
