Smartphone addiction is a common worldwide problem among adults, which might negatively affect their mental and physical wellbeing. Objective: Examine the relationship between mobile phone use and mental health by measuring the levels of depression, anxiety, stress and sleep quality among college students of Surat city. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted on a total of 100 numbers of college students. Data were collected by 3 Self-reported questionnaires including depression, Anxiety and Stress scale (DASS), Insomnia was assessed using Athens Insomnia Scales (AIS), and Smartphone addiction scale - Short version (SAS-SV). Results: Statistical analysis indicates that 27% of students were addicted to the smartphone. Stress, anxiety, depression and sleep quality have a positive significant correlation with smartphone addiction (p__ampersandsignlt;0.05). Anxiety (p=0.000) and stress (p=0.000) were highly correlated with smartphone addiction followed by depression(0.002) and sleep quality (0.004). The results revealed there were high chances of anxiety and stress for cell phone addicts. Conclusion: There was a highly significant positive correlation between smartphone addiction and stress as we as between smartphone addiction and anxiety. Apart from this, a moderate correlation was found between smartphone uses and seep quality as well as between smartphone use and depression. So the intensity of mobile phone use could be a factor that can influence causal pathways leading to mental health problems.&#13;
