availability and accessibility of information. It enables the learners of flexible learning to stimulate a&#13;
virtual learning. The World Wide Web technology as a vehicle for disseminating course materials and&#13;
its arrival has triggered the beginning of some fundamental changes in teaching, training, and selfdirected&#13;
learning. In this paper the authors highlight the different categories of web-based learning,&#13;
software tools used in web-based learning, equipment and requirements for creating electronic portfolio&#13;
and the uses of web-tools in distance education.&#13;
